The Great Commission, Part 2

Scripture never leaves the church without direction for practicing the faith it proclaims. Chris Burnett and Scott Callaham trace the Great Commission through Luke 24, John 20, and Acts 1:8, showing how each passage carries forward the same call to repentance, forgiveness, and proclamation to the nations. They describe the gospel’s advance from Jerusalem outward as concentric rings, a movement that gave birth to the church at Pentecost and has never since stopped.

The two also turn to a sobering question for mission agencies and sending churches alike: What happens when an unregenerate person is sent to the field? Their answer is direct. The most important qualification for a missionary candidate is not cultural fluency but a settled trust in the authority and sufficiency of Scripture.
